It is with this distinctive concept that the Yangpu Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Center has developed from scratch over the past 14 years to become the largest technology business incubator in Shanghai with the largest assets and the most complete service functions, attracting countless young entrepreneurs to realize their dreams here. Many of them ride in on bicycles and drive BMWs out. They have turned from ignorant and young college students into all-powerful entrepreneurs. Hatching" Yangchuang from scratch

Incubator, as the name suggests, is through a certain temperature, humidity and environment, the egg into a chicken equipment. Such a kind of new small and medium-sized enterprises to provide physical space for the establishment of science and technology and service support incubator, now blossomed all over the country. More than a decade ago, however, it was a novelty.

Founded in 2001, Yangpu Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Center ("Yangchuang") is a joint initiative of the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Yangpu District Government and Fudan University. At that time, Xie Jihua was working as a senior manager in Shanghai Science and Technology Investment Corporation. He was attracted by the new and challenging job of setting up an incubator, and gladly agreed to join the company as employee 001.

Yang Chuang's growth history itself is also an unusual history of entrepreneurship. At that time, all the 3 shareholders invested only 2.64 million RMB and 6,000 square meters of the old factory building of the candy factory. It was very difficult to start from scratch. First of all, it was impossible to recruit people. People didn't know what the incubator did, so the first four employees recruited were retired. Secondly, in order to attract small and medium-sized enterprises to move in, it is necessary to have office space, and the capital needed to build the first phase of the office building is 95 million yuan. With no assets and unable to borrow from banks, Xie Jihua borrowed money from everywhere and looked for partners. In the first year or so, Yang Chuang has been hovering on the line of life and death. From planning, financing, negotiation to construction, construction, investment, Xie Jihua did everything himself. In the most critical period of construction, he and his colleagues hardly go home, soak in the site every day, tired and sleepy to go to a big cypress bathroom to take a shower, take a nap.

January 1, 2003 is the planned Yangpu District Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Center opening day, has been signed into the enterprise, but until mid-December 2002, located in Guoding Road, this park is still a construction site. The success does not pay off, on December 31, 4 pm, Xie Jihua got the last fire license issued by the Yangpu Fire Department that year. That night, Xie Jihua and team members stayed up all night, and workers together to fix the road new. When the park opened on time on January 1, 2003, Xie Jihua and his six colleagues all cried.

Self-improvement first, then strength.

After that, Yangchuang built the second and third phases of the building, and in 2006, the construction of the park was completed, and entrepreneurs came in large numbers. In the field of domestic incubators, Yangchuang has become synonymous with "innovation". In order to provide good service to the startups, Xie Jihua created the service system of "liaison officer + counselor + business coach"; in order to solve the financing difficulties of small enterprises, he set up a 20 million RMB "TPLP" corporate financing with the support of Yangpu District Government. In 2008, Yangchuang registered the trademark of "Yangpu Entrepreneurship", becoming the first incubator in China to do so, and was recognized as a Shanghai Famous Brand in 2010. In 2012, the company also won the Shanghai Gold Quality Award.

The total amount of state and local taxes paid by the enterprises in the park was 50 million yuan in 2008, and has reached 178 million yuan in 2014. The center for the total financing of enterprises from 80 million yuan in 2008 rapidly increased to 1.5 billion yuan in 2014, an increase of nearly 20 times.In 2014, enterprises in the park declared nearly 400 patents and other intellectual property rights. Yangpu Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Center was recognized as a national high-tech enterprise, and Xie Jihua fulfilled the promise: "To incubate star enterprises, let yourself become an excellent entrepreneur first."

April 23rd this year was a different day for Xie Jihua and his team. After more than a year of preparation, the National Technology Transfer Eastern Center was inaugurated in Shanghai's Yangpu's Bay Valley.

As a functional platform for technology transfer that Yangpu is accelerating its cultivation and development, the Eastern Center will focus on the source of technology and industry ports, exploring a new model of technology transfer services that is docked with universities, integrated with finance, win-win with enterprises, and in line with international standards, so that the seeds of innovation that lead global industrial trends can land, take root and sprout here. At present, the center has started in-depth cooperation with world-renowned technology transfer institutions and multinational corporations, such as the United States Yet2, Germany's Stäubli Foundation, Shell Innovation Factory, etc., in order to build a global distribution center for innovative technology and capital.

For more than ten years, one star enterprise after another has emerged from Yangpu Entrepreneurship Center. 2003 was the year of establishment of Shanghai Huaping Information Technology Co. After 7 years of cultivation in Yangchuang, it was successfully listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange GEM in 2010, becoming the first listed company that the incubator cultivated independently and the first listed company in Yangpu District. Over the past ten years, Xie Jihua has watched "Warburg" grow up bit by bit: the office has grown from one to two rooms, and then expanded to several floors, and recently bought a building in the Bay Valley; the market value was 5.3 billion yuan when it was listed in 2010, and now it is nearly 20 billion yuan.

"Warburg Pincus" is one of the five companies where Xie Jihua served as an entrepreneurial mentor. Each of these five companies has been successful. Xie Jihua seems to have the magic power of "turning a stone into gold". In fact, in the growth of each of these companies, he put in a great deal of effort.

Sun Hongtao is the General Manager of Shanghai Fuzhan Intelligent Technology Co. In 2005, he and two other graduate students wanted to start their own business based on their professional technology, and applied for a 300,000 RMB entrepreneurship fund for university students, and Xie Jihua was one of the supervisors of the fund. Xie Jihua gave a lot of encouragement and affirmation to their projects, introduced preferential policies to them, and invited them to settle in Yangchuang.

During the start-up period, Sun and his partners worked until late every day, and Xie Jihua also accompanied them until late. Sun Hongtao and others specialize in LED lighting and application technology, but in the face of the brutal market, the development did not go smoothly. In order to survive, they once do everything, trade, auto parts, machinery, site construction, and even for the five-star hotel to provide tablecloths ... ... Xie Jihua promptly reminded them of the future development to have a plan, rather than "pull to the basket is the dish. And when the enterprise made a name for itself, several young people appeared "a little rich and comfortable" idea, Xie Jihua and inspire them to run to a new goal.

When there is a conflict between him and his girlfriend, Xie Jihua comes to be the "uncle"; when it comes to marriage, his mother-in-law thinks that Sun is not very reliable, so Xie Jihua helps to do the work. Sun Hongtao said, "For a non-local entrepreneur, the sense of belonging is very important, and Yang Chuang gave me a sense of belonging."

Achieving dual value

Years of working in the YCL has given Xie Jihua a special affection for working with young people. He said that entrepreneurs are not only struggling for themselves, but also contributing to society, they are not leaning on the country and are willing to take responsibility. However, entrepreneurship is difficult and involves huge risks, and society should be tolerant of entrepreneurs. Therefore, the central service team should not be a giver to entrepreneurs, but should be anxious and think what entrepreneurs want.
