A delegation from Korea Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Organization visited East Center to explore new mode of cooperation between China and Korea in science and technology.

On the morning of September 27th, a delegation led by Woo Yeong Hwan from Korea Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Corporation (KSME) visited the East National Center for Technology Transfer (hereinafter referred to as "ECCT"), and was warmly received by Mr. Zou Shujun, Executive Vice President of ECCT and Ms. Ye Lei, Director of International Channel Department. The two sides discussed possible future cooperation.

At the meeting, Mr. Zou introduced the background of the establishment of the Eastern Center, the domestic and overseas layout and the main business content of each section of the company. In particular, Mr. Zou gave a detailed introduction of the functional platform for technology achievement transfer service that the Eastern Center is responsible for building. The platform consists of three parts, namely, technology achievement bank, service provider cluster and technology exchange, and is equipped with corresponding capital import and professional capacity building, etc. It will become a national regional technology transfer center with the most complete and largest scale in China and an important part of technology transfer ecology.

Mr. Woo Yeong Hwan, Director of the Entrepreneurship Support Division of the Korea Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Corporation (KSMEP), and Mr. LEE BYUNG CHU, Director of KSMEP and the Korea Small and Medium Enterprises Development Center (KSMEDC) Shanghai Branch, then introduced the main business of KSMEP, the establishment of the Global Technology Transfer Center, and international cooperation.

The Korea Small and Medium Enterprises Corporation (KSMEC) is an official agency of the Korean government that provides a full range of services, policies, and financial support to all small and medium enterprises in Korea, with assets of $40 billion. The technology transfer program breaks the traditional Korean export model that focuses on product sales to a technology-based product export model that nurtures startups and addresses the export needs of Korean SMEs. Currently, five technology transfer centers have been established around the world, mainly in some emerging developing countries such as Vietnam, Iran, Indonesia and Peru, to promote technology trading and transfer of technological achievements. It is hoped that the next technology transfer center can be established in Shanghai in the future.

In the end, both sides expressed their willingness to further establish a cooperative relationship. Mr. Zou said that the Eastern Center attaches great importance to the cooperation with Asian countries, and Korea has many advanced technologies in intelligent manufacturing, so the future cooperation can be carried out through technology transfer and industrialization. The two sides have very similar work content in the field of technology transfer and business incubation, and can further discuss the future cooperation mode of efficient and harmonious cooperation between the two sides through the Shanghai International Technology Exchange Market.Director Woo Yeong Hwan said that the current technical needs of the 2019 China Innovation Challenge (Shanghai) are very practical, and Korean enterprises are willing to seek cooperation opportunities starting from specific projects, and Further discussion of future cooperation.

Since its inception, the Eastern Center has always adhered to the path of international development, continuously expanding its overseas layout, establishing cooperative relationships with more countries in the field of science and technology innovation, and exploring a flexible and diversified cooperation model. At present, East Center has set up 10 overseas branch centers around the world, with an overseas network of 44 channels in 34 countries and regions across five continents. The visit of the Korean SME delegation will further promote the cooperation between the East Center and Korea in the field of science and technology innovation and establish a good partnership.
