China-Israel cooperation reaches new heights, Shanghai Innovation Center officially lands in Israel

On September 9-10, 2019, the first "Innoweek" was successfully held at the Tel Aviv Convention Center, which is the largest exhibition of innovation cooperation between China and Israel. With the theme of "Innovation and Development, Win-win Cooperation", the exhibition invited more than 150 local governments and industrial parks, large enterprises, universities and research institutions from China and Israel to participate in the exhibition and display, and share their experiences and achievements in the field of China-Israel innovation cooperation. The number of viewers exceeded 5,000.

"The China-Israel Innovation Cooperation Achievements Exhibition" (Innoweek) was organized by the China Science Exchange Center, the Israel-China Innovation Alliance, the Israel Innovation Agency, the China-Israel (Shanghai) Innovation Park, the Shanghai China-Israel Innovation Promotion Center, the National Technology Transfer Eastern Center, the Beijing Tel Aviv Innovation Center, and the International Technology Transfer Collaboration Network. and the China-Israel Changzhou Innovation Park. The Shanghai China-Israel Innovation Promotion Center (SIIPC) is a private organization established by the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission and co-sponsored by East China Normal University, National Technology Transfer East Center, Taupu Zhichuang City, Rongzhi Intellectual Property and China-Israel Shanghai Innovation Center, with the aim of further deepening the cooperative relationship between Shanghai and Israel at the municipal level, promoting the development of technology, capital, talents and services between Shanghai and Israel. We will combine all-round innovation resources to establish a science and technology innovation service system in line with international standards and better serve Shanghai in building a science and technology innovation center with global influence.

On the first day of the event, the opening ceremony of Innoweek was held at the venue, with speeches by Avi Luvton, Director of the International Department of the Innovation Agency of Israel, Cui Yuting, Science and Technology Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Israel, and Amir Lati, Director of the Northeast Asia Department at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Afterwards, Lu Min, Chief Engineer of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission (SSTC), and Avi Luvton, Director of the International Department of the Agency for Innovation in Israel (AII), unveiled a plaque at the Shanghai Innovation Center (Israel) Tel Aviv office.

Xie Jihua, President of the National Technology Transfer Eastern Center, delivered a keynote speech on the China Innovation Challenge (Shanghai) and the Yangtze River Delta International Innovation Challenge and released the Israeli demand.

The exhibitors had face-to-face communication and negotiation with many exhibitors and individuals from China and Israel at the exhibition site.

During the exhibition, the China Science and Technology Exchange Center (CSTEC) and the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) co-hosted a series of seminars and conferences. "The 3rd China-Israel Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition" took place concurrently at Venue 1 and Venue 2. The event is the only competition platform under the mechanism of the Joint Commission for China-Israel Innovation Cooperation, and since the first competition was held in 2017, the event has attracted the registration and participation of over 400 Israeli startups.

The China-Israel Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is divided into three stages: the preliminary round, the field final and the grand final, in addition to the preliminary round held during the exhibition, the field final and the grand final will be held in December 2019 in Beijing, Changzhou and Shanghai, China, respectively, where nearly 400 startups and organizations from the fields of life sciences, artificial intelligence, ecological and environmental protection and agriculture will participate. As the preferred vehicle for Israeli innovative companies to connect with the Chinese market, the judges of the Genesis competition are all senior executives of large Chinese companies and heads of investment institutions, and the competition aims to sort out and integrate methods and channels for Israeli innovative companies to enter the Chinese market and create a win-win intergovernmental innovation cooperation mechanism.

In May this year, the "Promotion Meeting for the Construction of Sino-Israeli (Shanghai) Innovation Park and the Signing Ceremony of the First Batch of Cooperating Institutions" was held in Taopu Wisdom City, Putuo, where the Sino-Israeli (Shanghai) Innovation Park officially settled at the original site of Hao Xiong's Golden Pen Factory. The Innovation Park will be built in three phases, with Taopu Innovation City as the carrier, focusing on joint R&D projects, achievement transformation projects and early industrialization projects in fields in which China and Israel have advantages, and attracting Israeli universities, research institutions and enterprises to Shanghai for cooperation. It is expected that by 2021, the Sino-Israeli (Shanghai) Innovation Park will become a one-stop service, distributed operation and linkage development innovation park, dedicated to innovative technology research and development and exchange, transformation and trading of innovative achievements, international expansion and cooperation of innovative enterprises, cultivation and incubation of new industries, training and exchange of innovative talents, innovative capital services and market docking activities.

The National Technology Transfer East Center, which undertook the construction of the China-Israel Technology Transfer Platform at the end of 2018, not only participated in promoting this "China-Israel Innovation Cooperation Achievement Exhibition" and the "China-Israel (Shanghai) Innovation Park Construction Promotion Meeting and the Signing Ceremony of the First Batch of Cooperating Institutions" in May In the future, through the mutual establishment of carriers in China, a "dumbbell type" transfer channel connecting the demand side and the supply side will be formed; through the flow of technology, capital, enterprises and personnel, a complete "search-research-pi-transfer-incubation-investment-production" will be formed. "A technology transfer ecological chain with the capacity to realize two-way transformation of China-Israel technology; and explore sound supporting guarantees in business incubation, technology finance and technology transfer.
