Innovation Challenge at Fudan University

On the afternoon of June 18, 2019, the Innovation Challenge series of activities - Fudan University Science and Technology Achievement Matching Meeting was held in the Yifu Building of Fudan University, Yangpu District Science and Technology Committee, National Technology Transfer East Center, Shanghai Small and Medium Enterprise Development Service Center, as well as 13 university project technology teams and more than 10 docking enterprises to participate in a total of The industrialization of technology in the field of biomedicine.

The meeting was organized by Shanghai Yangpu District Science and Technology Commission, National Technology Transfer Eastern Center and Shanghai Small and Medium Enterprise Development Service Center, and undertaken by Fudan University Institute of Science and Technology, Shanghai National University Technology Market and Ningbo Research Institute of Fudan University.

At the beginning of the event, leaders and representatives from Yangpu District Science and Technology Committee, National Technology Transfer Eastern Center and Shanghai SME Development Service Center warmly welcomed the guests and gave a detailed explanation on the current relevant innovation and entrepreneurship policies. Mr. Hu Tianqi from the Eastern National Technology Transfer Center gave a presentation on the latest progress of the Eastern National Technology Transfer Center in promoting the transfer of technological achievements, the effectiveness of last year's China Innovation Challenge (Shanghai) and this year's event plan, as well as the innovation voucher policy. Compared to last year, this year's Challenge has involved 14 districts and counties in Shanghai, and fully linked up with Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui to create an integrated innovation hub in the Yangtze River Delta.

In this exchange and docking meeting, the roadshow session lasted for two hours, and 13 university project technology teams brought a total of 16 high-value technology projects, involving AI, materials, pharmacology and other fields. Among them, the mid-infrared and terahertz fiber optic project brought by Professor Shi Yiwei received wide attention, which is based on low-loss mid- and far-infrared waveguides and can be applied to laser energy transmission or mid-infrared spectral detection for laser non-invasive and minimally invasive medical diagnostic and therapeutic instruments. The research and development project of sphingomyelinase inhibitor brought by Professor Deyoung Ye from the School of Pharmacy is also attracting attention, which has global independent intellectual property rights and has applied for a number of national invention patents, some of which have been granted, and currently has been granted US and European patents. It is reported that SMS2 inhibitors may be transformed into new targets, new mechanisms, new pathways and new chemical structures for the treatment of atherosclerosis and metabolic syndrome, which are first-in-class new drugs with independent intellectual property rights. Clinical application value and economic benefits.

Through the project roadshow, the guests and the audience had a further understanding of the current biomedical technology. In the free discussion session, the leaders, experts, investors and the project technology teams had more detailed exchanges on biomedical aspects, in order to further promote the industrialization of the technologies.

Later, more university research teams with strength and technology will also use the Innovation Challenge as a platform to show their research power to innovative enterprises, bring more scientific research achievements and solve more technical problems for them.
