New Vision, New Future: 2019 Pujiang Innovation Forum Sino-Singapore Cleantech Cooperation Sub-Forum Successfully Held

On May 27, the 2019 Pujiang Innovation Forum Sino-Singapore Cleantech Cooperation Sub-forum was successfully held at the National Technology Transfer Eastern Centre. The forum, under the guidance of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission and Enterprise Development Singapore, was hosted by the National Technology Transfer Eastern Center, undertaken by Yumo Consulting, with corresponding support from the U.S. law firm Ketten & Associates. More than 40 representatives from government departments, cleantech enterprises, legal and financial sectors, and technology intermediaries from both China and Singapore attended the forum.

The objective of the forum is to promote communication between Singapore and China on trends and market needs in the clean technology sector, showcase innovative technologies, increase opportunities for Singaporean enterprises to invest and collaborate in China, and provide more pathways for Chinese enterprises to "go global" and build a stronger resource network platform.

Mr. Zhao Liang, Deputy Mayor of Yangpu District, attended the forum and delivered a speech, expressing his warm welcome to the new representatives and enterprises. Zhao Liang also said that the development potential of clean technology is huge, and strengthening the technical cooperation between China and Singapore will help both countries to seek win-win situation and achieve rapid development, and hoped that this event will bring greater cooperation between Chinese and new enterprises.

At the forum, Mr Yap Ching Boon, Deputy Director General of IE Singapore, introduced Singapore's clean technology industry and its radiation effect on the Southeast Asian market; Mr Zou Shujun, Executive Vice President of the National Technology Transfer Centre East, explained the innovation and internationalisation trends of technology transfer from the perspective of the "fourth party platform".

Dr. Xu Rong, founder and CEO of Yumo Consulting, Dr. Song Yu, President of Shanghai Tongchen Environmental Protection Research Institute, and Mr. Hu Hongwei, Partner of Dacheng Law Offices, shared their views on the impact of technology cooperation on the core development of enterprises, the overview of the development of sludge technology and market trends, and practical advice on intellectual property protection. More implementable recommendations for future cooperation.

Representatives from five Singaporean companies (Century Water, Evercomm, Durapower, Rigel, Zweec) introduced their unique advantages in water treatment technology, energy management, lithium-ion battery, environmental sanitation and environmental monitoring, and explored cooperation opportunities with the Chinese companies. After the speeches by the Chinese and Singaporean guests, nearly 10 Chinese enterprises had further exchanges with the above five new enterprises and the discussions were lively. Mr. Hou Siying, Deputy Director of the China Department of the New China Enterprise Development Board, said that the forum was a great success, and both Chinese and Singaporean enterprises had a good exchange of ideas, and hoped to continue to hold related activities to promote bilateral cooperation between China and Singapore.
