The Shanghai International Makers Competition is exciting!

The 2017 Shanghai International Makers Competition was successfully held at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum on May 25! The hackathon was launched on May 12, and after two weeks and nearly 30 pre-competition training and technical explanations, it attracted a total of nearly 1,000 s from China, the United States, the United Kingdom and Singapore and many other countries and cities in China!

The main field of this year's hackathon is divided into three events: a blockchain development competition, a youth creative woodworking competition, and a hardware hackathon development competition. Hard and soft, creativity and technology concurrent! The editor arrived early in the morning to take an empty scene, but the participating s came even earlier than the editor! Before the doors of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum had even opened, they were already waiting outside with their respective computers and equipment.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Chen Hongkai, Director of Innovation Service Department of Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Mr. Yan Mingfeng, CEO of Eastern International Technology Transfer Center, and Mr. Chen Chengqiang, Director of INNOSPACE+, made speeches for the competition, encouraging creators to give full play to their creativity and perform well in the competition.

The morning development time passed quickly ~ after a brief lunch break, the eleven projects of the blockchain development competition entered the roadshow judging process.

After careful questioning and evaluation by the judges, the first and second prizes of the blockchain development competition were awarded with prizes of 10,000 yuan and 5,000 yuan respectively oh ~ in addition, they will also receive a small ant stock worth 10,000 yuan. At the Teen Creative Woodworking Competition roadshow, the creativity of the participating students made the self-proclaimed veteran maker ashamed of himself! From thinking outside the box, to finding solutions and figuring them out, to making demonstrations that are so logical, creative, and hands-on that the little ones can't believe they're teenagers!

The judges were also very professional, including experts from international skills competitions, masters with 20 years of experience in the woodworking tool industry, as well as teachers in charge of more than 30 youth innovation labs in primary and secondary schools in Shanghai.

More than 30 middle school students from various high schools in Shanghai have created creative works such as 'full tongue and groove bookshelves' and 'shared bookhouses' (I'm telling you, some schools already want to introduce this concept).

Many of the participants said that they had participated in many IT science and technology competitions before, and this was the first time they participated in a creative competition for woodworking. They learned a lot of basic skills such as machine safety and operation through the initial training, which was very rewarding.

When it came to the elementary school presentation, the editor couldn't believe his eyes and ears! The only thing that repeats in my mind is 'I must have had a fake childhood!!!' All kinds of woodworking tools, skilled to a fault ~ each group's presentation was complete from creative concept to application scenarios, even the division of labor of each team member was very clear! (The editor, who has seen countless startup roadshows, just wants to say that it truly is better than what many entrepreneurs say!

After talking about software programming competitions - blockchain development, and tool skills competitions - creative woodworking for teens, let's take another look at an area where makers have been bursting with creativity in recent years - hardware development. The maker movement has led to a wave of smart hardware startups, and the innovative energy of hardware makers can't be underestimated. Today's maker development competitions are also staged with all kinds of excitement.
