Technology needs to leverage the future of science and innovation!

The 2021 Global Technology Transfer Conference INNO-MATCH officially kicked off at 8:45 a.m. on May 31, 2021 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. This year's conference is guided by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Shanghai Municipal People's Government, organized by the Department of Achievement Transformation and Regional Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, and hosted by the National Technology Transfer East Center, which is an important part of the Pujiang Innovation Forum and the first conference in China with the theme of "Innovation Demand". It is also the first science and technology conference in China with the theme of "Innovation Demand".

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Huang Shengbiao, Deputy Director General of the Department of Achievement Transformation and Regional Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Mr. Chen Mingbo, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal Government, delivered opening speeches for the event. Mr. Xu Lin, Chairman of China-US Green Fund, gave a keynote speech on science and technology innovation and transnational cooperation in the context of "carbon neutrality and carbon peaking".

Deputy Director Huang Shengbiao said in his speech that this year is the opening year of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and over the past five years, China has made remarkable achievements in technology trade, and China is increasingly becoming an important hub and an active growth pole in the global technology transfer map. In this regard, he put forward three expectations for the Global Technology Transfer Conference: first, to guide the interconnection of innovation agents by innovation demand; second, to better serve the construction of the technology factor market system; and third, to better play the role of specialized technology transfer talents.

Chen Mingbo, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government, said that Shanghai attaches great importance to technology transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, actively draws on and learns from the advanced experience of technology transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements at home and abroad, continuously increases the efforts to promote the work, and has achieved positive results. Against this background, Deputy Secretary-General Chen Mingbo made three suggestions to the GSTC: first, to continue to enhance its influence; second, to continue to enhance its professionalism and establish a "wind vane" for global technology development; third, to continue to enhance its openness and create a "meeting room" for global technology cooperation. "We hope that the Global Technology Transfer Conference will become a landmark event for international technology exhibition and trade and a "net-worthy spot".

At the conference, two key enterprises, AstraZeneca International Life Science Innovation Park and China Baowu Iron & Steel Group Company Limited, released their requirements. With the platform of the Global Technology Transfer Conference, AstraZeneca released technology requirements for non-invasive blood glucose meters, chatting robots for chronic disease management and digital therapies, while China Baowu brought technology requirements for nickel-based alloy welding materials, graphene carbon nanotubes and blockchain, looking for people to "reveal" the list globally.

Chinese Ambassador to the UAE Ni Jian and UAE Ambassador to China Ali Zahiri delivered speeches via online video at the launch of the UAE Country Pavilion as the Guest of Honour at the 2021 Global Technology Transfer Conference. This year marks the 37th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and China, the scope of cooperation between the UAE and China has been expanding and the UAE-China relationship has become a model of global cooperation in the 21st century.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Chen Mingbo, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government, Mr. Zhang Quan, Director of Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Mr. Lu Min, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Mr. Wu Bin, Standing Committee Member of Shanghai Minhang District Committee and Vice Mayor of Shanghai Minhang District, and foreign guests: Salih Hamari, Head of Economic Affairs (Counsellor) of the UAE Embassy in China, Robert Emond, Science and Technology Counsellor of the Canadian Embassy in China, Meng Shanshan, Consul General of Switzerland Consul General of the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai, Mr. Meng Shaneng, Consul of the Consulate General of the United Kingdom in Shanghai, Mr. Steven Bu, Consul for Science and Technology of the Consulate General of France in Shanghai, Mr. Anzevi. Also present at the opening ceremony were: leaders from some provincial science and technology departments and some districts in Shanghai, as well as exhibitors from enterprises, university institutes and service organizations from all exhibition areas.

This year's Global Technology Transfer Conference is held in an integrated online and offline manner, focusing on highlighting cloud attributes and live pushing across the whole area, and actively building a fully aggregated platform integrating graphics, videos, features and cloud exhibitions.

It is worth mentioning that the three-day conference will also hold more than 20 diversified demand release, results roadshow, summit forum and other thematic activities at the same time. The conference will be unveiled with "innovation demand", which will form a powerful innovation "attraction" and can better play the role of Shanghai's global innovation network hub, accelerate the market allocation of technology factors, and attract global innovation factors to converge and flow to the Yangtze River Delta.
