Guarding Life and Health for Food Security: Major Achievements in Sugar Science Presented at Global Technology Transfer Conference 2020

Ltd, a French scientist company, announced two important research results at the Global Technology Transfer Conference 2020 (GTT 2020) today in the "Results Presentation of Glycochemistry Collaboration Projects between Chinese and French Scientists". -Saccharide broad-spectrum antiviral drug molecular library, novel sugar plant vaccine, sparking widespread interest in science, technology and industry.

Sugars are widely found in human cells, bacteria, viruses and parasites. During the infection of host cells by pathogens, sugars can play an important role both in the most initial stages of invasion and as important structural factors for the immune system to remember pathogens after infection. Sugars can be used as targets for the development of drugs for the control of infectious diseases. Tang HeChem has constructed a broad-spectrum antiviral drug library of sugars, and screened the drug molecules in the library against novel coronavirus and other viruses. In the early tests conducted in cooperation with Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center and Professor Yang You's laboratory at East China University of Science and Technology School of Pharmacy, several molecules have shown good activity against influenza A, B and C viruses, and are expected to develop a powerful drug to deal with various viral infections in the future.

In addition, sugar also plays an important role in the growth and development of plants and the process of immune defense, it is an important signal molecule that affects various physiological and pathological processes. GAP965x provides protection against environmental extremes, effective and long-lasting protection against all aspects of crop quality and yield, and low cost advantages. In many field trials, GAP965x has shown significant efficacy in achieving high quality crops in saline soils.

It is reported that Tang He Chemical has achieved a number of important R&D results and applied for a number of independent and complete intellectual property rights through the cooperation of Chinese and French scientists in the form of projects to share resources and cross-border exchange of science. Prompted by the proposal submitted by Ma Chi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai CPPCC, Shanghai Intellectual Property Office and Shanghai Finance Bureau attach great importance to this innovative model of Sino-French science and technology cooperation, and are working together to promote the landing of the relevant platform, to promote the platform and institutionalization of Sino-French science and technology project cooperation, and to build a regional frontier science and technology ecosphere.
