Davos Thoughts|The innovation ecosystem is the cornerstone of transformation

The fourth industrial revolution is a systemic change that encompasses companies, industries, countries and even entire societies. At this Davos Forum, we can hear various interpretations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and predictions of its disruptive impact. What capabilities are needed for us to be able to adapt and challenge the fourth industrial revolution? What does it take to catch this windfall as a vanguard of technology transfer?

China has a good foundation for the transfer of results. With the world's largest market, China's R&D investment is the second largest in absolute value, its R&D human resources are the largest in the world, and three of the top ten companies in the world in terms of patent applications are Chinese companies. Premier Li Keqiang proposed to further expand the effective supply and form a government public service platform for social sharing. Long Guoqiang, deputy director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, proposed to release pent-up demand by stepping up the current stage of reform and achieve transformation and development through technological innovation. As the process of technological change accelerates, it will become increasingly difficult for enterprises to control the market only by controlling existing technologies, and accelerating technology transfer and transformation is the only path for enterprises to maintain sustainable competition.

Since the establishment of the Eastern National Center for Technology Transfer, we have been exploring and practicing: how to provide more effective supply, how to form a public service platform, and how to form a sustainable self-improvement mechanism. The "spirit of Davos" is dedicated to creating a new borderless system, and we need to apply this spirit to reorganize the existing technology transfer system, integrate rule-making, capital provision and capacity specialization, and rebuild an innovative technology transfer ecosystem.

For more than a year, we have tried to guide the formation of results, judge the validity of existing results, and share the existing results with more people. In this process, we have been thinking about: whether the funding support at the beginning of the formation of scientific research results can be combined with more market options; whether the judgment of results can be related to the interests of the judges themselves; and whether a more open sharing platform can be built for the transformation of results.

Financial support is a catalyst for the transformation of achievements. China's overall financial environment is stable, on the premise of transferring more capital to science and technology innovation and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, to support the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and the formation of a new sustainable development mechanism. How to allocate willing capital and capable institutions at the outcome transformation stage requires constant practice and breakthroughs.

The transfer of results is supported by the innovation of large enterprises. Creative disruption and disruptive creation require appropriate frameworks and flexible principles to drive technological development. Zhang Ruimin, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Haier Group, believes that: in the traditional era, either own the brand or work; in the Internet era, either own the platform, or be owned by the platform. From the original smashing products to form a quality system, today we start to smash organizations to form an open innovation system, build a unified service platform, around the concept of unity of people, to form their own development of the unique mode. How to build open innovation system for large enterprises, so that more large enterprises can transform from product-oriented to ecology-oriented, is what the Eastern Center is practicing and trying.

The innovation ecosystem is a rainforest, not an empire. Technological innovation is the core, corporate innovation is the main body, and cultural, institutional, organizational, and model innovation make up the entire ecosystem. Embracing trends and seizing opportunities, we are the builders of the innovation ecosystem for transforming results, we are the practitioners of borderless organizations, and we are the innovation leaders who bring the future to the present.
