Spotlight on Smart Cities! Sino-French Technology Exchange and Matchmaking Meeting Held in Shanghai

On July 8, the 2019 Sino-French Smart City Technology Exchange and Matchmaking Meeting was officially held at the East National Technology Transfer Center. The event was guided by Shanghai Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Center, Yangpu District Science and Technology Committee, National Technology Transfer Eastern Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Eastern Center"), Shanghai International Technology Exchange Market, Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute (Group) Co. "Shanghai Municipal Academy"), the French Smart Building Alliance (SBA) and the Yangpu Science and Technology Market, which aims to focus on science and technology applicable to the global development of smart buildings and smart cities, and to identify and partner with the best companies in China's innovation ecosystem.

In his speech at the event, Lu Jijun, assistant president of the National Technology Transfer Eastern Center, introduced the Eastern Center's incubators, technology finance, technology mall and other business sectors to the guests. The Eastern Center has 10 overseas branches and 16 domestic branches, and will continue to expand its global hubs, help more companies that intend to go public with their IPO strategies through the incubator, gather more high-quality scientific and technological achievements through incubators, the China Innovation Challenge and other diversified channels, and take advantage of the platform to facilitate the transfer of scientific and technological achievements.

Mr. Weng Wei, Deputy Director of Chief Engineer Office of Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute, gave a brief introduction on the development history, major projects at home and abroad and future strategic planning of Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute. Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute covers all fields of infrastructure construction industry, with strong talent reserve and rich project experience, adhering to scientific and technological innovation, actively developing comprehensive services of the whole industry chain and providing overall solutions, aiming at effective integration of resources of the whole industry chain of urban infrastructure design.

Anne-Françoise HAYMAN, Vice President of the French Smart Building Alliance for Smart Cities, introduced the SBA to the attendees. Founded in 2012, the French Smart Building Alliance for Smart Cities adopts the Ready2Services (R2S) framework to provide building communication, innovative energy and other services to realize smart buildings and smart cities that are oriented towards digitalization, decarbonization and decentralization. The Alliance currently has 300 corporate members, including ENGIE, VINCI, Deloitte and Siemens.

Afterwards, 6 French technological achievements in the field of smart cities and buildings, which are leading in technology, in line with the direction of industrial upgrading and have clear application prospects, were roadshowed.

During the free exchange session, the representatives of the roadshow enterprises and the Chinese participating enterprises had a more in-depth exchange on the introduction, landing and even operation of the project, which laid a good foundation for the subsequent cooperation between the two sides.


After the event, several French companies that participated in the roadshow spoke highly of the event, saying that it was a good opportunity for SBA members to meet with many Chinese companies and share their visions of smart buildings and open solutions for smart cities. Through this event, they will continue to follow up on the needs of potential customers and build a more effective and extensive cooperation network.

The National Technology Transfer Eastern Center, Shanghai Municipal Academy and other SBA organizers are organizing this event in the hope that through enterprise roadshows and free exchanges, French smart city enterprises will have the opportunity to enter China, land in China, find suitable partners, and help Shanghai introduce advanced European smart city technologies, enhance innovation vitality, and help the development of Shanghai's smart city.
