On the eve of Labour Day, General Secretary Xi Jinping said at a meeting with representatives of the country's model workers that model workers were outstanding representatives of the working masses and the most beautiful of all workers. To these most beautiful workers, the National Labour Medal is not only a recognition of their work by the state and society, but also a proof that they are "the most beautiful".

Yesterday was the annual "May Day" Labor Day, Youth Daily interviewed two national May Day Medal winners, listen to their stories together, to see what qualities they have?

Mentor" of s: let small and micro enterprises to land on GEM

Yan Mingfeng, who just won the National May Day Labor Medal, has a lot of heads up and is the CEO of the National Technology Transfer Eastern Center, as well as the deputy general manager and economist of Shanghai Yangpu Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Center Co. He was awarded the 2011-2012 Shanghai Advanced Individual in Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Service, and the 2014 Shanghai Model Worker.

Yan Mingfeng is highly praised by the leaders of Yangpu District Party Committee for his "simplicity, seriousness, professionalism and dedication", and is also widely recognized by the relevant government departments and the community for his work.

Born in 1980, Yan Mingfeng started his career as a liaison at the grassroots level, and over the years he has witnessed the growth of numerous entrepreneurs and technology enterprises. After he served as the center's deputy general manager, innovation to promote "entrepreneurship mentor + counselor + liaison" system construction, improve the "resident enterprise classification management approach and incubation service process", "visit liaison workflow and service specifications" and other related systems, and eventually formed a system, perfect, with Yangpu entrepreneurship characteristics. "Contact Service Manual". He focused on mentoring Shanghai Huaping Information Technology Co. Ltd, a small company with only 120,000 yuan R&D capital and a team of six people, successfully landed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange's Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) through eight years of hard work, becoming the 74th company after the opening of China's GEM market.

In April 2015, Yan Mingfeng was appointed as the CEO of the National Technology Transfer Eastern Center. Faced with a development field where there is no successful experience to learn from so far, he led his team to layout a global technology transfer network in less than a year to promote the flow of technology factors; enhance the capacity of technology intermediary services in the form of technology intermediary innovation vouchers, enliven the technology transfer market and build a technology transfer ecosystem; and take the lead in establishing a basic service product module, launching a special service package and exploring a new model of technology transfer. . By the end of 2015, it had developed 37 domestic and foreign channels, 10,990 pieces of technical supply and demand information, cultivated 394 technical brokers and 285 institutions, reserved 329 industry experts, and collected 4,292 pieces of enterprise information.

Gene Engineers: At the forefront of the fight against cancer

Wang Dong is the manager of the R&D Department of Gene Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. and he was just recently awarded the 2016 National May Day Labor Medal. For this honor, he who has just entered the age of uncertainty is very modest, "There are many people who have won the award, so don't report me."

Gene technology sounded very lofty, and it was quite difficult to decipher. Wang Dong thought about it and used the simplest words to explain it in three or two sentences. "I do precision medical research and development, which means helping different patients find the right drug, or the right medical treatment. In the past, the conventional treatment taken clinically may have killed both tumor and normal cells. Now there is a gradual shift to targeted drugs that target tumor cells, and these drugs are expensive, typically costing tens of thousands of dollars for a course of treatment. However, these targeted drugs are not effective for all patients, and the genetic differences of patients need to be analyzed to choose the most appropriate treatment drugs."

Wang Dong was born in 1975 in the rural area of Hanchuan, Hubei. He originally studied agriculture, but an unexpected event prompted Wang Dong to change the direction of his life. His mother was suffering from breast cancer, which was found to be in an advanced stage. The continued radiation and chemotherapy after the surgery made him more deeply aware of the patient's needs. He is determined to use his knowledge to engage in medical-related research and development work and make his own contribution to the early diagnosis and effective treatment of the disease.

With the rapid development of gene sequencing technology, they quickly adjusted their R&D focus to the development of new generation sequencing reagents. Since then, as the director of the R&D department, Wang Dong, together with the R&D team, continuously developed their new products on this platform. After eight years of honing, Gene Technology's pyrophosphate sequencing kit became the first tumor gene sequencing kit to enter clinical application in China.

In 2008, one of the world's top ten biopharmaceutical companies, approached Genetech to collaborate on a colorectal cancer gene mutation testing program. As the new drugs for colorectal cancer were only effective for wild type patients, they were not effective for patients with mutations. In order to avoid drug abuse and waste of money, as well as to enable patients to gain time for treatment, it was necessary to use an accurate and efficient mutation screening method. Wang Dong's team developed the relevant test reagents that year, and the total number of colorectal cancer cases detected exceeded 6,000, which solved the urgent clinical needs.
