What is a technical broker?

Technology brokers, by undertaking technology transfer projects, play the role of linking the technology supply side and the technology demand side. For technology suppliers (such as universities and research institutes), technology brokers promote the commercialization and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, while for technology demanders (such as enterprises), technology brokers solve the problems of research and development and innovation. Technology transfer is the transfer of technological achievements between different legal entities, or its transfer from a theoretical state to a commercialized state. Unlike other tangible commodities, the transfer of technology is not a simple transaction process, but an extremely complex system project, involving not only technology, equipment and processes, but also closely related to investment, management, marketing and other links, while also taking into account the confidentiality needs of both parties to the technology transfer project. The complexity and professionalism of technology transfer projects require technology brokers to have not only extensive knowledge of science and technology, but also knowledge of law, trade, finance and intangible asset valuation. While the academic education system of technology brokers and the development of the technology transfer industry are still underdeveloped, the training and practice of technology brokers has been one of the pain points in the development of the industry.

Development potential of technology brokers

In the 21st century, "technology transfer" has emerged, and is gradually known to the world as a "sunrise industry". In today's information explosion and rapid development of technology, "fast" is more and more deeply rooted in the business philosophy of entrepreneurs. When high-tech products with super-absorbing power are launched one after another, the demand for technology transfer talents in the market has shown explosive growth, whether it is the launch of new products in the industry or the strategic management layout of cross-industry.

The successful experience of European and American countries in science and technology innovation tells us that, while increasing investment in science and technology and encouraging scientific and technological innovation among scientific and technological personnel, it is also necessary to vigorously support the development of the technology brokerage industry, build a flourishing system of scientific and technological intermediary services, and train highly competent and efficient technology transfer personnel.

In the domestic technology market, which has been developed for more than three decades, technology brokers have always been the link between technology and industrialization, and are fundamental to the development of innovation-driven and technology transfer business. Nowadays, the development of senior technology transfer institutions is constrained by the scarcity of technology brokers, and the cultivation of technology brokers can't be delayed.
